John Benedetti, Ed.D. Superintendent (847) 587-2561 ext. 225 John Benedetti has served as the Superintendent of Grant Community High School District 124 since 1994. Currently, he is the highest ranking tenured high school superintendent in Lake County. He manages 215 faculty and staff and a $32 million budget. During his tenure, the district successfully passed a $16.5 million building bond and education rate referenda in 1999 and a $38.5 building bond referendum in 2008. These funds spearheaded construction and renovation projects in 2001, 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2011. Prior to John’s employment in District 124, he served in five different administrative positions over 11 years in Lake Zurich Unit School District 95. |

Christine A. Sefcik, Ed.D. Assistant Superintendent (847) 587-2561 ext. 223 Christine Sefcik has served as Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations at Grant Community High School District 124 since 1996. Dr. Sefcik holds a Bachelor of Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology, a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Northern Illinois University, and a Doctor of Education from National Louis University. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Illinois Association of School Business Officials, is the former chairperson of the Northeastern Illinois Association of School Business Officials, and currently serves on the Executive Board for the Intergovernmental Utilities Purchasing Cooperative and the Lakes Region Schools Benefit Cooperative. Prior to her tenure at Grant High School, Dr. Sefcik was employed by the Lake County High Schools Technology Campus and Community Consolidated School District 59. |

Dr. John F. Barbini Principal (847) 587-2561 ext. 242 On July 15, the Board of Education approved the appointment of Dr. John F. Barbini as the Interim Principal for Grant Community High School. Dr. Barbini has extensive administrative experience in education. After serving in Schaumburg District 54 from 1970 – 1994 as a teacher, curriculum director, elementary school principal, and Assistant Superintendent of Operations, Dr. Barbini was hired in Wauconda Community Unit School District 118 in 1994 as Superintendent. He served in District 118 until his retirement in 2004. Since 2004 he has served as an interim or co-interim superintendent in Grayslake District 127, North Chicago District 187 and Mundelein District 120. For the past three years, Dr. Barbini has worked in the Regional Office of Education in Grayslake conducting health and life safety inspections of schools and conducting compliance review assessments in schools throughout Lake County. Dr. Barbini began at GCHS on August 2, 2010 and will conclude his service here in June 2012. |

Greg Urbaniak Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment (847) 587-2561 ext. 264 Greg Urbaniak is in his second year as Director of Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment for Grant High School. Mr. Urbaniak oversees the Prairie State Achievement Exam, PLAN, and EXPLORE testing, along with Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) testing and Advanced Placement testing. He attended Northern Illinois University for his Bachelor of Arts degree in English and English Education. He has a Masters degree from Concordia University in Curriculum and Instruction and a second Masters degree in Educational Administration from Northern Illinois University. Mr. Urbaniak also teaches graduate courses designed for educators. Prior to beginning his position at Grant High School, Mr. Urbaniak served as a principal, assistant principal, curriculum director, and English teacher for other districts. |

Rebecca Foster-Lopez Director of Pupil Personnel Services (847) 587-2561 ext. 241 Rebecca Foster-Lopez has served as the Director of Pupil Personnel Services at Grant Community High School since 1994. Ms. Foster-Lopez earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education and a Master's Degree in Education Administration from Illinois State University. In addition, she holds a Type 75 Certification in Education Administration as well as a Director of Special Education Endorsement. Prior to her tenure at Grant Community High School, she served as an administrator for the Special Education District of Lake County. |

Eric Taubery Divisional Administrator (847) 587-2561 ext. 272 Eric Taubery is in his 12th year as a member of the Grant High School community. He was a Social Studies teacher for seven years before he became a Divisional Administrator. Mr. Taubery holds a Bachelor of Science in History from Northern Illinois University and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership. As a Divisional Administrator, he is responsible for the Math and Science, in addition to being the Vocational Director. Mr. Taubery is currently working towards his Doctorate in Educational Leadership through Aurora University. |

Tom Oeffling Divisional Administrator (847) 587-2561 ext. 240 Tom Oeffling has been at Grant High School since the 1994-95 school year. He attended Marquette University, double majored in History and Education, and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1993. He also holds a MA in Educational Leadership and Type 75 Administrative Certificate from Aurora University. His first thirteen years at Grant were rewardingly spent in the classroom where he taught Social Studies. At the end of the 2007 school year he took on his new role as Divisional Administrator. He is responsible for the ELL, English, and Social Studies Departments. |

Jeremy Schmidt Divisional Administrator (847) 587-2561 ext. 393 Jeremy Schmidt earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from Central Michigan University in 2005, and in the fall of the same year he accepted a position at Grant High School. In 2010, he completed his Master of Arts in Educational Leadership through Northeastern Illinois University and was subsequently awarded his Illinois Type 75 Administrative Certificate. His years in the classroom at Grant were spent teaching a broad spectrum of English courses from English 9 to AP Literature. In the spring of 2011, he accepted a new role to assume the duties and responsibilities of the Area Administrator of the Business, Fine Arts, Foreign Language, Family and Consumer Science, Industrial Technology, and PE/Health/Driver Education Departments. Additionally, he oversees the Library and is Director of Student Activities. |

Kris Bacci Assistant Special Education Coordinator (847) 587-2561 ext. 292 Kris Bacci has served as Assistant Special Education Coordinator since 2003. She holds a B.S. in Special Education from Northern Illinois University and a Masters in Education in Instructional Leadership from National Louis University. Prior to her tenure at Grant High School, Ms. Bacci taught special education for eleven years and served as an administrator at Grayslake Community High School. |
